2022: Thinking in Series / by Andrew Wilson

2022 was a year of a continued pursuit of details with one of my main focusses being developing a series titled ‘Mersey From Otterspool’ (which I would return to throughout the year). Building this series was an enjoyable process which I hope to continue in the future.

Other highlights included having work featured in the Amateur Photographer magazine and shortlisted in the Close-up Photographer of the Year competition and the ongoing simple satisfaction of taking photos!

So here’s my 2022…

January - Continuing the ‘Mersey From Otterspool’ series.

A frosty morning walk back from Otterspool Promenade.

February - Wind skimming across the lake at the Liverpool Festival Gardens.

April - Additions to ‘Mersey From Otterspool’.

May - Detail of the central fountain on a walk around Sefton Park.

Morning sky reflection on the boating lake of Sefton Park.

Reflections of trees broken up by ripples in a lake, Sefton Park.

Balloon caught in electric cables above the streets of St.Michael’s Hamlet.

Evening street lights reflect in the metal sheet across the doorway of an abandoned bungalow in St.Michaels. I would return to this a few times to capture different colours…

June - Returning to the metal sheet of the abandoned bungalow above…

…this photo would go on to be shortlisted in the ‘Man-Made’ category of the Close-up Photographer of the Year (CUPOTY) competition.

My beach detail photo from 2020 also made the shortlist in the ‘Intimate Landscape’ category.

August - Spider in its web in Priory Woods, St.Michaels.
